As we all gathered in the parking lot in preparation of loading up the two vans and a pick up truck, I was reminded by the ole Willy Nelson song, On the Road Again. We left this afternoon around 3 PM and as we passed the side of the road where we first ran out of gas, I gave a huge sigh of
relief. One less thing to have to worry about. There are 12 of us merry
band of travelers. Three of us, along with our fearless leader, are
returning for another year's adventure.
Wow, its hard to believe that another year as come and gone so quickly. I'm not sure the folks in Joplin necessarily feel this way given the tumultuous year they've had. When this trip was announced through the college, I quickly volunteered to go. Last year, I felt like I was leaving so many things unfinished. I'm anxious to see all of the changes that have occurred over the past year and see what new challenges await me this year.
Like last year, I have no idea what to expect in regards to what I'll be doing and with whom. Last year I was challenged to re-think many things and to truly focus on the meaning of practicing what I preached. Perhaps, I'll be tested again that way or face some entirely new challenge. Whatever it is I can't wait to find out!
Well, it's late and I have to be up early as we complete our drive to Joplin. I'll have more to report later.
